In 1988, we established our first gym in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with a passion for fitness and a commitment to our community. Starting with a small but dedicated team, we aimed to create a welcoming environment where people could achieve their health and wellness goals. Our humble beginnings in Albuquerque set the foundation for what would become a thriving network of fitness centers across the state.

The Metro Club was our first freestanding club which opened in 1988. It was originally part of a nursery school called, “Bright Beginnings” off of Spain and Eubank and moved a few years later around 1992 just down the road to San Mateo and McLeod where it has been thriving ever since. Our members still love working out here and our team is always proud to be a part of our most established location. This building was also the home of our Corporate Office for a while until it moved to the Mountain Run Plaza. Metro remains one of our most beloved clubs to our longstanding members.

Our second longest-standing club is our Sandia Club location on Juan Tabo, supporting the Northeastern neighborhood of Albuquerque near the Sandia mountains. The club sits in the location formerly occupied by a nightclub called, “Grand Central Station” as well as a restaurant that was located on the south end of the building. After a realtor took over the north end, there was an epic rainstorm that collapsed the roof. Shortly after, Defined Fitness took over the entire space. It remains our biggest club, sitting at 60,000 square feet, and serves as one of the largest gyms in New Mexico.

Originally called the Riverside Club, in the early 2000s the Bosque Club was built to replace a previous location in the Taylor Ranch Strip Mall just a few blocks away. After the Bosque Club was remodeled in September of 2019, it was the first to showcase the new brand aesthetic and quickly became the most popular club in Albuquerque. The high-energy vibe and layout kicked off the construction and design of our new clubs. One of the unique aspects of this club is the "arena" style layout featuring an elevated cardio deck overlooking the weight training floor.

Representing Defined Fitness in the four corners region is our Farmington Club. Previously an Albertsons, this club opened in 2009 and was the first and only club to open outside of the Albuquerque - Rio Rancho area. An interesting story about this location is that Dwayne the Rock Johnson and Kevin Hart were spotted working out here while they were in town for a movie shoot. Farmington continues to be the sole face of Defined Fitness in Northern NM and is a huge part of the Farmington community.

Serving the Southwest side of Albuquerque is our Mesa Club. This location was built in 2019 and was the first club to feature the new brand elements including a revised Defined Fitness logo, wall graphics and club layout. The new design also included an exterior design feature called the wing wall. An exciting addition was the outdoor turf workout space we call "The Yard.” The land the club sits on was secured over 10 years prior to opening making Mesa the most highly anticipated new club and has been thriving ever since.

The Capital Club was the first Defined Fitness Club in Santa Fe. Formerly a Natural Grocers Supermarket, this location opened on July 10, 2020. We were faced with many challenges when opening this club due to the COVID Pandemic. We had to shut down our pre-sale during the early stages of business closures, when many businesses were forced to close their doors. Our resilient team however, persevered. We were able to work with the city, and got the green light to paint the outside of the building our signature gray and white, allowing us to stand out on Cerrillos Road. A great new addition was the workout yard that connects to the pool area. Even with the economic and environmental challenges at the beginning, this club continues to be one of our most successful locations to date.

The Rio Club opened in October 2021, although we owned the property it's built on for 15 years prior to opening. It was a long-anticipated opening that was worth the wait. It is located in the "Enchanted Hills" neighborhood. It includes all of our updated designs, including a hot tub that was added to the design at our members' request. It also includes our brand statement wall graphic and a beautiful view of the Sandia Mountains. It was our first club with our updated logo on the stick wood wall featuring the club’s name. This club has a great culture and a proud community.

Hilltop Club was built from the ground up in 1998 and was our first club built in a new city which was very exciting for our team and members in the Rio Rancho community. During this time, Intel had a small Defined Fitness gym inside their facility and they were excited for this new location. In January of 2023, we closed the doors to the original Hilltop Club and opened a much-anticipated new club for the Rio Rancho community featuring our largest turf functional training area and a Venice Beach-style workout yard.

Defined Fitness announced almost 50,000 square feet of fitness is coming to Los Lunas in 2025.
